Hello, in a fresh installed magento,
i try to setup a new product and in the second step (http://xxxxx.com/index.php/admin/catalog_product/new/set/4/type/simple/) get a blank screen with a text qich says “Images” and a square (a table with a border)
in the apache log i find:

What is happening?

I did find a solution,
The problem was a bad installation of magento. I guess that i didn’t have the correct configuration od php.ini or mcrypt as i upgraded my php 5.1 to install magentoo.

To fix it, i installed a fresh new ubuntu , installed apache and mcrypt and all the required stuff via apt-get install and all runned smothly.

hope it helps, focus on system installation, not in magento.

I’m facing the same issue with “New Product” (previously it was with Edit Product).

Gonna try installing mycrypt (I got it on my dev machine, but not on production machine)

Bingo - that fixed it!

Just to note… I installed from Magento installer on my laptop, which serves as a development copy.  On my production server, I just copied the code (using sftp) and installed the database, and set the appropriate db permissions in app/etc/local.xml.  All that worked just fine, but php5-gd2 and php5-mcrypt packages weren’t available on my prod server.  And Magento didn’t mention those in it’s errors.
