There’s no reference to ‘tax’ in the language file - is it hard-coded?

Hi David,

Many thanks for your response.

We have just got the default magento template installed and are in the process of configuring and learning the product. Maybe it is hard coded somewhere then but must admit have not got a clue where that would be!

Just seems strange that the checkout, recently viewed/added products show now show VAT when the product details shows TAX

If you have any idea’s of where it might be hard coded it would be appreciated.

Regards,

Dave

I might be miles off with this, but is it the ‘Tax Title’ you need to change in Admin - Sales - VAT - Manage Tax Zone & Rates ? Just a thought!  grin

You won’t lose any changes to the design etc. But any changes you have made in the language files will not be carried over to the new locale.

@Haroon - if you look closely at your error message it provides the reason:

File /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/downloader/pearlib/download/package.xml
already exists and is write protected

Check your file permissions to make sure the Magento Connect Manager has write access to update all files.

Cheers,
Ross.

@Haroon

If you are using the web-based Magento Connect Manager, then all Magento files need to be writable by the ‘user’ or login that the web server runs as (usually ‘apache’ or ‘nobody’).  The easiest way to do this is to give full read and write permissions to everything (mode 777 or rwxrwxrwx).  You can change permissions on the command line with SSH, or using a file uploading (FTP) program.

There is some basic information on permissions of the Install guide:
http://www.magentocommerce.com/knowledge-base/entry/magento-installation-guide

Personally, I don’t like to allow such permissions, so I use the command-line based version of Magento Connect.

Hmm… not sure what the problem is then.

Do you have a problem to install any other extensions, or just this one?

Can you try the command-line Connect manager?
