Hello to the Magento team.

You have a great product but for some reason no one has documented what weight measurement is used by Magento.  I assume (correct me if I’m wrong) that the weight I give for a product will be used in calculating shipping cost, and therefore it isn’t just “whatever unit of measure I happen to like” but rather MUST be whatever the system was designed to expect.

So PLEASE answer this question.  It has been asked before on the forums several times, but without any reply, and it appears to be nowhere documented:

This page (http://www.magentocommerce.com/knowledge-base/entry/tutorial-creating-products) does hint that it might be pounds but doesn’t actually state that.  We could really use an explicit statement to clarify matters.

Surely that depends on the system you are referring to and what you have built your shipping module to expect. If your shipping module expects kilos then it would be kilos.

in my US / UPS system it uses pounds. I’m not sure about anything else as I haven’t tried anything else
