I’m fairly new to ecommerce, but I’m working away at getting my site up and running.
One of the last things I need working is the shipping modules.

I’m not exactly sure how to get the FedEx module up and running.
The gateway Magento is currently set to use is: https://gateway.fedex.com/GatewayDC
I put a call into FexEd tech support, and they indicated to me that this is the URL for the production site, and that all I need to do is request a production Key.
So I login to FedEx with my newly created account and in the Development center requested a Production Key. A few min later I had mail from fedEx with information on:
UserName:
Password:
Account#
Authentication Key:
Meter number:

I then added my account ID to the FedEx shipping module, and I’m still getting the message:
“This shipping method is currently unavailable. If you would like to ship using this shipping method, please contact us.”
I then tried the same thing, but changed the “Account ID” in Magento, to use Account#, userName, Authentication Key, and Meter number, none of which worked.

Has anyone had any success with this? If so, any helpful tips or advice?
I have also tried the UPS shipping module, using what I think is the HTTP method and I’m having the same issue.

Make sure with FedEx and UPS that they got your accounts on the production server and not on the test server.
It will not work if your account in the test mode

Coeus I’m also located in Ontario, so I figured that perhaps Moshe was correct in his statement in your post.

This is the information I’ve got, hope this helps:

“FedEx - do not work with domestic operations in non U.S.A countries.”

Looks like it will work only when originating from US.

I called up FexEd, and they said it would work from just fine from Ontario.

Earlier I took a look at the web service documentation, and indeed it does show that
Authentication Key: Meter number: and Account#: are requirements for authentication to the production servers.

Does Magento have a file or SQL table that holds this information?
If so it should be easy to change this and get it up and running.

Cheers,
Nathan

Check your zip code format.
Try having only 5 digits in the zip code in the “Shipping Settings”.
i.e. 90210 instead of 90210-1234
See this thread it might help you out.

That wouldn’t apply to me because I’m shipping from Canada. Canadian postal codes are in this format (A1B 2C3)

I’m not sure I can help much, but I’m in the uk and get the rates more or less ok.

I found FedEx confusing, AFAIK you just need a valid account number - there isn’t anywhere to put the meter number, etc. I find FedEx works for me just with our company’s std FedEx account number, and not much else.

Moshe has told me how to debug Shipping errors. To see how I was able to resolve mine go to the following:
