I have a flate rate for shipping on all orders, and I have set that up in Magento, and the taxes are the same for every order as well, but the shopping cart page still has the “Estimate Shipping and Tax” box on it.

Also, we only ship to one country, and customers know this, so asking them to select their country is a bit strange.

Since shipping and taxes will be the same for every customer, it would be nice if the shopping cart just put the flat rate shipping amount and taxes into the subtotal automatically.

Exactly the same for my requirements .

The question ist, how to deactivate the Estimate Shipping and Tax box?

Do you find a solution?

To remove that box, you need to change two things.  First, you need to delete/rename ‘shipping.phtml’ in /app/design/frontend/default/default/template/checkout/cart/

Second, you need to remove <?=$this->getChildHtml('shipping')?> from the file ‘cart.phtml’ in /app/design/frontend/default/default/template/checkout/ — It should be around line 181

Sorry if it seems a bit complicated.  I just saw this post and wanted to figure it out real fast.

Alas, this solution is outdated. Is there a way to do this in 1.4.1.0?

To remove the estimate shipping panel just change the CSS as follows:

.cart .shipping { display: none; }

You’ll find that on line 1166 in the default styles.css file

EDIT: just realised that removes the coupon panel as well. To only remove the estimate shipping panel add the following code to your CSS file:

.col-2 .shipping { display: none; }
