Adding products to cart takes a long time

I just updated my magento version 1 to version 1.19700 and now every time I add a product to the cart it takes a long time to load. This wasn’t a problem in the previous version. Also, when adding products to the cart I sometimes get an error saying the quantity is not available. Is anyone else having a similar problem. I’m very concerned about the long load times primarily.

Hosting is through godaddy, but I’ve also been testing magento on media temple. In both cases load times are very long.

I agree, add to cart times are way to long.

Is there no fix for this. I found this thread in another folder:

http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/7216/

Same issue with speed. It takes about 30-45 secs to add products to the cart. This is a huge issue since and I am seriously contemplating a different shopping cart OS, dare I say even Zen Cart. I love the backend features of Magento, but if people can’t buy from the store efficiently then what is the point of having all of the backend features that Magento offers.

Please help.

Mike

Yes, I upgraded to 1.0.19700 yesterday and since then I have had performance issues, especially with added products to cart.

Enable: System > Configuration > Developer > Debug > Profiler

See where is the bottleneck in the stats on the bottom of each page.

@ Moshe,

Here is the profiler output when the “add to cart” doesn’t just flat out fail and actually goes through. Please see the attached PDF.

Some of the times are over 45 (which I assume is seconds since no unit is provided by the profiler.)

Any recommendations.

It looks like the mysql server is incredibly slow by itself.

chiaraweb, (ok) - which hostings are you on?

For godaddy see this thread: http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/6538/#t24341

@Moshe

I was afraid you’d say that. My main problem is that I run a Mac OS, and therefore cannot use the either Terminal or Putty to disable the godaddy control panel. I tried using Macs Terminal utility but I was unable to connect to the server host. Any other suggestions for freeing up ram using Macs Terminal utility?

Thanks

Mike

I have a (quite) good installation here
http://www.ecobabybusiness.com/shop/index.php

on IX hosting (USA) http://www.ixwebhosting.com/index.php

and another on VPS in Rome (ITaly)
http://www.ecobabybusiness.it/eshop/index.php/123
very slow here

hosting goes better then VPS

I can’t understand ... where is the total time to load in profiler table?

I tried to install APC on VPS but after installation magento goes to a blank page

Thanks Moshe.

The transfering my client off GoDaddy seems the best solution.

I’ll post here if we still have problems once we are up and running on (mt) MediaTemple.
