Connect states module installations are successful - but doesn’t actually install anything.

Hello,

Recently my Magento Connect installer has been driving me a bit crazy. The following problem started just after I moved my Magento install from a sub folder to my root folder:

Basically Connect shows itself working “perfectly” from the admin area. When I tell it to install a module, it complies, and states the module (I’ve tried 6 random ones just to try to isolate the problem) as being properly installed. In reality, nothing is written to any file directory, no module is installed, and from what I can tell nothing gets done at all. My file and directory permissions are as they should be.

I can’t figure this out! Please help!

(edit: figured this out, no need to reply)

Hey guys,

Sorry i didn’t reply sooner, I thought the thread was dead.

I believe I simply deleted pear.ini from downloader/pearlib/ and then flushed the cache and let Magento Connect recreate that file. Make a backup just in case I am mistaken.

Let me know how it works out!

thanks a lot mate.. great help!
Just to add a little info.. after doing the steps u mentioned, i tried reinstalling the extension (J2T Points & Rewards) using Magento Connect but got a “Write Error”. Giving chmod 777 to the folder having the permissions problem resolved the issue.
