Sharing an SSL Certificate - TWO (2) Magento Websites

I have a question.  I have two home-based businesses and wish to setup two separate Magento websites. Both websites (we’ll call them: and would be “add-on domains” of the “parent company” (we’ll call it ).

I plan to have a single SSL, and at time of checkout, the sites would each use a secure path such as:… (or perhaps:… )

And likewise for the other:… (or perhaps:… )

Since both companies are clearly an online presence of the parent “ACME Sales”, I feel that the customer would not see this as alarming. However, my question is how will the browsers (IE7) handle this(?), and can this be specified in the SECURE BASE URL section of the Magento system configuration(s) for each store’s website (remember there will be TWO seperate Magento installations)?

(I am certain I have done this before with osCommerce.)

Thank you in advance for your help.
