first off I am totally new to magento.

so I want to create a top link that has an image above it (where ideally the image is also part of the link)
one of my custom links , which is in the ~/theme/layout/customer.xml file , looks like this:

<default>
        <
reference name="top.links">
            <
action method="addLink" translate="label title" module="customer">
                <
label>About</label>
                <
url>/</url><title>About</title>
                <
prepare/><urlParams/><position>2</position>
            </
action>
        </
reference>
    </default>

I’m not sure if this is correct but the link shows up more or less where I want it
now I don’t have problem just adding the image in the CSS but how do I add an ‘id’ ( or class ) parameter to the link?

Or is this something that needs to be done via a module?
