Hello everybody,

is there any chance to chance the callout Teaser/Graphics in the Backend through an upload form or something like that?
The client should be ablr to work with magento by himself.

Currently it is realised through the XML File.

Thanks

So there is no chance to handle this?

Is it smart to keep it away from Magento?

@breastfed: you could insert one static CMS block in the XML layout, so store owner can put their own HTML there

<reference name="right">
   <
block type="cms/block" name="custom_callouts">
      <
action method="setBlockId">custom_callouts</action>
   </
block>
</
reference>

Hello,

first of all thanks, but i have 1 Question in mind, while i am thinking of this “Bug” in Magento.

How many shopowners are good in HTML or if they are good how many want to do it manually?

Every Shopsystem has an upload Form to Load the jpges on to the server. Why offers Magento just a static Version of changing callout?

THanks

Would please a Team Member give a Statement reffering to this Issue?

As we can see there is not Way to change Callouts dynamic and via Upload Form.

Do you plan to solve this Problem in the near (very near) future?

Shopowners in general are not into Programming…

Thank you

Theoretically a website should be built and maintained by a professional web designer. If a shop owner wants to do it, then he should at least learn a bit of HTML.  If you want to file your tax return, you should know a bit of tax law; if you want to defend yourself in court, the Juridical system asks that you have the knowledge of law smile

I think having the WYSIWYG HTML editor installed is one of the ways to solve your problem. There are threads and a Wiki article about installing FCK editor for CMS page.

Hope this helps!

First time a real answer, thank you.

I do not agree 100%, because other systems got the Option for a Shopowner. And it is not that big deal to implement that Option, or is it?

@ Moshe:
You postet that Code, with this Code a Shopowner is able to have “a new CMS Page” to add HTML?

There is a Code in the Demo to disaply the Callouts, but how could i display Callouts on certain Pages llike Checkout, Category XY or Category ABC?
And how can i random those Callouts?

Would be very happy to read answers.

Thank you for your Help!

Regards

@breastfed: Create a callout in CMS block, let’s call it “callout_block” as identifier.

Now edit Category XY, go to Custom Design tab, enter into Custom Layout Update:

<reference name="left">
    <
block type="cms/block"><action method="setBlockId"><id>callout_block</id></action></block>
</
reference>
Save category.

Now this callout will be displayed only in Category XY.
