Each translation has its own loacale.

In Norway, we have two languages, ‘Norsk Bokmål’ and ‘Norsk Nynorsk’ (actually included ‘Samisk’ we have three languages, but this languate is used only by a small group of people).

The most used language is ‘Norsk Bokmål’. I will suggest that this gets the locale no_NO.

Then it remains to give a locale to ‘Norsk Nynorsk’. I have seen no other web shop so far with ‘Norsk Nynorsk’ in use, so my guess is that it will take some time before you have a updated translation for ‘nynorsk’.

During the actualy installation of Magento, and from the Admin Panel, Dashboard, Interface Locale, I can only chose ‘nynorsk (Norweg)’. I hope this can be corrected to “bokmål (Norge) in the next release.
