Does anyone here know how to conduct a SEARCH for specific extensions rather than browsing through pages and pages? I can find no search function for extensions......Thanks

you mean the “search entire site” box at the top? I used that, you can’t specify that you just want to search extensions, or can you?

The Magento Connect interface/search capability seems pretty flawed to me. If someone can come up with a decent way of displaying these extensions so people can get what they need quickly and efficiently they would definitely be on a winner.  The other problem is with the lack of reviews, how do people know which extensions are good and which are rubbish?

I think if Magento dont have the bandwidth to manage this they should outsource to someone who can, as I’m sure it would be a profitable venture.

You can use google to limit the results to magento-connect.  Just use the search string bellow in google.  Replace “<your search here>” with your search

<your search here> site:magentocommerce.com/magento-connect

Thanks for the tip! Yet another thing you can do is search tags:

http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/list/tags/shipping/
http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/list/tags/norway/
http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/list/tags/whatevertagyouwanttosearch/

This of course goes into the address bar and assumes there are tags for what you’re searching :smirk:
