During installation, I changed the permissions of the following directories to make them writable:

/app/etc
/var
/media
/media/import

They were originally 755, I changed them to 777.

After successful installation, do I need to change these back to 755 for security reasons?

Thanks.

I don’t think so as I think they are needed to be writeable by the application. For example the var directory stores the cache and session information.

However I am no developer or security expert. Can someone else confirm?
