Installing magento 1.0 on FreeBSD PHP5.2 , shared ip
and I get the error The page isn’t redirecting properly when I try to install.

This problem has been reported with earlier versions, but not with version 1.0. Please help

I too have the same problem,
it says in firefox:
The page isn’t redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
please help

I also got this message. Then I found that I uploaded Magento by FTP in Binary mode by default.
I uploaded the tar.gz file to the webserver directly and unpacked it there. Now it works fine for me…

I got that too in a mac + MAMP directed to localhost.com,
I thought it was a mac + MAMP problem ...
cannot pass the 2nd stage of installation ...
