Hi community,

Was thinking of a cool feature (particularly with people reporting poor load times of the ‘Add to Cart’ feature) -
- Use Javascript to perform ‘Add to Cart’
- Trigger an AJAX request to send the cart contents once the ‘Add to Cart’ is clicked.

This way the UI is much faster to the end user and the backend is updated with the Cart content information by the AJAX request. umm ... am not sure on how ‘guest’ users are to be handled though!

Weigh in your thoughts on the same here smile

I am very close to accomplishing this and I can post the code if someone is willing to help.  I have the ajax adding to the cart but it doesn’t show until I refresh.

Well.... If anyone feels confident enough that they think they can help I will post the code here.  The only thing left is some sort of dialog confirming the add to cart and some way to update the cart (maybe just by a item count), that is actually close too.  If I can get the help I need to finish it I can post up how to do it so that it can be implemented.  So far it hasn’t been too terribly hard.

Where can it be seen? Do you have a demo online? How to obtain the code?

I may post a tutorial on this but the lack of community is seriously discouraging me from doing that.  I don’t know about anyone else but I have had a heard time getting any answers to much of anything in these forums.

If I get some sort of good response on this from the community I will gladly post it or trade.  But everyone seems to be hording information, why shouldn’t I?

That one seems to be pretty cool.  119.00 is quite a bit of money for it though.  I much rather like to keep in the spirit of open source.  I will be posting a demo link soon and we will see if anyone still want me to post a tutorial.

An extension like that exists, but this is a commercial one :(

This is a need for core IMHO. Todays, all recent good shop have an ajax shopping cart. And magento is a recent good shop CMS isn’t it ? wink

There is a commercial extension someone mentioned it above and they did a great job on it.  But it does cost 100 bucks.  That is quite a bit of money especially since most ajax carts are going to be a custom solution depending on how your website works and runs and what boxes you will also have to update.  I think that is why its not a core feature.
