Can anyone tell me where I can edit the email text that customers receives after an order.
My customers receives the following email text.

“Thank you for your order from Magento Demo Store. You can check the status of your order by logging into your account. If you have any questions about your order please contact us at or call us at (800) DEMO-NUMBER Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm PST. “

Obviously I don’t want ”Magento Demo Store” and definately not ”dummyemail@magentocommerce.com or call us at (800) DEMO-NUMBER Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm PST.” in this email. I would like my own store name and real telephone number.

I have all my email settings in the configuration section set up correctly. What am I missing?

Other than this I have Magento working perfectly.

I figured it out.

Well looks like I had to manually edit the following files located at magento/app/locale/en_US/template/email

order_shipment.html
order_update.html
account_new.html
order_creditmemo.html
order_invoice.html
order_new.html

I don’t know why this wasn’t hard coded so it would take the admin settings and place it automatically in these files. Maybe in the next update this will be the case.

Love my Magento!  cheese

This should be and is easier to do than editing the all those templates although it is not made very apparent in the screencast on transactional emails.

All you have to do is go into the admin under System>Transactional Emails and Add New Template. You’ll be presented with the screen to add your new template and here comes the aha!… At the top there is a drop down where you can select and load one of the existing templates as the foundation for your new custom template. It loads all of the (X)HTML and other code that each template uses. Slick!

Hope this helps,
Jonah

From the admin page, go to System > Transactional Emails

Press Add New Template (at the top right)

On the top, it will say Load Default template. Select the template you wanna change (for example, New order)

Press Load Template. Then just edit the Template content, give your new template a name, and press Save Template.

After you’ve made your template, go to System > Configuration.

You probably want to change the sales emails, so go to Sales > Sales Emails.

In the email template dropdown, you should see a new option which is the name of the template you created.

Select it, and voila!

When I press ‘Load Template’ nothing happens. Does any body know why this might be?

Thanks in advance!

I Change evrything in the ADMIN panel (all templates) but im still geting:

Thank you for your order from Magento Demo Store. You can check the status of your order by logging into your account. If you have any questions about your order please contact us at or call us at (800) DEMO-NUMBER Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm PST. “

When I create an account the only way that I found was modifying the files as is mention before.

I found this problem only with that email the others work fine if you make the changes through the admin panel.

Did you choose the right template in system>configuration>Sales emails to your new template for the right store(view)?

The email templates for guests are set to defualt.  You have to go to system > configuration > sales emails > and set the emails to what they should be, and not the defaults.

that should work.

Is there an option to edit the default templates so we don’t have to go into Config to re-select new templates?

This seems a rather backwards way or changing these details. Surely the Admin screen should have a ‘store details’ section where we can enter:

1. Store name
2. Store email address
3. Store telephone number
4. Store opening hours.
5. Alt text for logo.

These multiple emails could then be populated with those variables to save editing 20-30 separate files…

As far as I know, you can change the emails in the admin section if you go to System > Config > General > Store Email Addresses

But I certainly wish changing the store name was that easy. It is mildly retarded to have to chase down every instance of “Magento Demo Store” to change the store name manually, something that every singe store owner will have to do. And if you miss one, then you look dumb.
