How do I display the categories on the homepage NOT in the navbar? Like how do I get a category to display like a product on the main page?

Basically,

I want to display all of our different categories on the homepage like how a product is displayed before you click on it. I want each category to be displayed similar to a block in the middle section of the homepage but I cannot figure out how to do this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
