Hello everyone this will be my first post and hopefully it should be an easy one. I must first give props to the programmers as Magento is wicked cool and easy to work with. Beats Zencart and OScommerce easy IMHO.
Alright, the forums seem like a great deal of information but I have not been able to find information on my specific issue. This is regarding the top links like my cart etc. Please let me be clear that I do not want to change the text or displaying or not displaying specific menu items. My question is more specifically gear towards design using the Blank template.
I would like to customize the appearance of the links, you know spruce them up with a background and everything. The problem I am running into is that I cannot change the layout of the text no matter what I do. It’s always a vertical list, I simply want to switch it to a horizontal list. I have tried editing styles.css and even though I can make defined box sizes and borders etc. the text just extends outside of it which tells me the configuration is somewhere else. Well in searching I found I could edit links.phtml and 1column.phtml (which is the layout I’m using). For some reason I can’t just make the text horizontal nor find out where.
If it’s the xml configuration files I can’t seem to find where “horizontal text” is actually defined in anything anywhere. Is this just how this template is setup?
Next question:
How can I get a graphic to display on my front page and have the text to the right of it without using the CMS portion. I have edited the 1column.phtml to include the graphic I wanted but the text is prior or after depending on where I put “getchild content”.
I’ve included a screen shot with annotations for visual reference to my first question.
