Hi All,
I am trying to set up ups shipping xml.
I also get the error when in standard mode:
When I try to check out the page states:
“This shipping method is currently unavailable. If you would like to ship using this shipping method, please contact us.”
I entered the user name and my password and placed my account number in the Access license number field (what else could that be?)
At any rate, the error appears even not using the xml version. Its enabled in all store views.
Please help, this is the very last config needed before I go live!!!!
Chris

I’m having the same issue here. I also tried using my Developers Access Key for the UPS Online Tools in the “Access License Number” field, to no effect.

Naturally, as soon as I posted here I figured it out (d’oh!).
You need an “XML Access Key” to use the XML rate and service selection API that this module uses. To get one of those, you need to already have a developer key. Try this link (might not be portable, I got to it while logged in). You’ll need a UPS online account to request these keys:
http://www.ups.com/e_comm_access/laServ?loc=en_US&NEXT;_PAGE=WELCOME&WT;.svl=SubNav
Hope this helps, it got me up and running

is it as simple as plugging the “XML Access Key” into the “Access license number” field under Shipping Methods > UPS?
i’ve tried this and can’t seem to get it to work… i’ve verified that my username and password are correct… can’t think of anything else…

For others struggling with the dreaded “This shipping method is currently unavailable. If you would like to ship using this shipping method, please contact us.” message when trying to configure UPS (XML) shipping when you’ve (seemingly) got everything set up correctly… Ensure you’ve selected an “Allowed method” (as by default nothing is selected)… Ouch. I burned a great deal of time trying to sort this out only to find the solution was such an easy one.

I’m using the UPS XML access key (that got by using my developer key, which I got by signing up for UPS). I’m sure my username/password are correct, and I have selected several shipping methods, but I can’t seem to get this to work, ending up with the dreaded “This shipping method is currently unavailable” message.
I’m shipping from Canada as the origin, but it seems like this shouldn’t be a problem.
When I dive in the UPS module itself, I can verify that the XML requests that get sent seem to look good, but I never get any data back from the cURL call. Or rather, I simply get an empty string back—no errors. I also know cURL is working on the server because I use it elsewhere, so that’s not the problem
Is anyone else having issues with the UPS XML shipping method? Or better, a possible solution?
