How do I charge tax based on customer’s billing address state only?

I need the cart to only apply tax to a customer transaction based on if the “Billing Address” is in the same state as our store.

For example, if the store is in Maryland and the customers “Billing Address” is in Maryland then the cart should charge the appropriate state tax.(NOT if the shipping address is in Maryland)

Make sense? Any help appreciated.

Jeff,
Let me add a disclaimer: if you are required to charge Maryland tax, you should charge it for customers with MD billing addresses OR MD shipping addresses. Either of those give MD authority to tax.

All the information is found under Sales-->Tax. You will need to edit “Manage Tax Rules"and edit “Manage Tax Zones and Rates.”
