We’re in the process of building an e-commerce store and just recently we looked into Magento, it seems feature rich and give us the “enterprise look” than other open source commerce solutions out there, with active development and community.
During the test drive of Magento, we met an obstacle of being unable to configure a bundle option for our store as there isn’t any option to do that. To put it clear, what we’re trying it to achieve is:
1. Customers picks a product A and proceed to checkout.
2. During the checkout page or some other mediatory page, customers are presented with several products (unrelated type of product) as sort of recommendation.
3. Customers can choose to ignore or purchase the recommended products as a bundle to the former chosen product.
The questions is there a way to do what I described above, perhaps by extending Magento? Please give us your suggestion and point us to the right direction. Thank you.
You do have the option of using upselling. Which will do pretty much what you are wanting. When you create a product there is a section for upselling, you can choose other products here that will be presented to the user when they view checkout screen.
