I am new to this whole thing and am not a programmer.  I know basic HTML, but just enough to be dangerous.

I am trying to install a theme I purchased and can’t get passed the first step in the instructions.  Here is what they say:

# Copy all files into your magento directory:

Simply copy all files from “template source x.x.x” directory into your magento store directory.

My question is, where is the magento store directory?

I think I can follow all the other instructions, but I’m stumped on this one.

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

It’s the directory/foldeer that Magento is installed in.
So if your store URL looks like http:/mystor.com/magento then the ‘magento’ directory is where you would copy the files and folders for the template.
If the URL is http://mystor.com then the directory to upload the template to is the root of the domain.

The template should be packaged in a folder structure that puts the files where they belong in the correct directories under the Magento root directory.

Hope that helps.

regards

@jsapko:
To install a theme in magento it will get with some easy steps as below:
1) First on you should extract your theme (.zip). As just copy design folder and paste it to under following path: magento/app/design/frontend/default/here.
2) You will paste your skin folder under following path: magento/skin/frontend/default/here.
3) Now check if there is any app folder include in your theme.
4) Yes then paste as define folder structure.
5) Also check there is any addition plugging available in your theme or not.

Hope this helps.

Then I would respectfully suggest that Magento is not the tool for you.
It is a large, complex and involved application that takes time to learn and tame.

It really sound like you need a turnkey shopping cart solution and Magento is most definitely not that.
