Hello! I have a brief question regarding magento’s search. On our webstore, if I search “mic pre” it pulls a couple of our mic pre’s and a ton of just random products that we have added. Is there a way to fix the way magento searches? or an extension that you could possibly recommend? Thanks in advance.

The internal search is quite useless, we use SOLR with CE as used in Magento EE and by Disney & Netflix. There are various options which you may get some mileage with.

Great thank you for your help. Any recommendations to get started with that setup? Or extensions you could recommend?

You can look at this, http://www.serpyre.com/magento/magento-solr-search-levenshtein-distance-fuzzy-search/, however SOLR is enterprise grade used by the top sites. There are other options/extensions but they will produce more marginal results (Sphinx does not have Levenshtein Distance for example), so it comes down to what level of quality you need.
