SetEnv TMP /absolute/path/to/my/magento/var/cache

Does not work for me :-(

I guess you need mod_env enabled. I assumed that you already have. =]
But if it didnt work, I guess it could be the version. I’m using 1.6, and saw that magento try to find some server enviroment variables before assuming null to that.

I hope it helps you.

I have tried doing the following in Magento 1.5.1

Change:

protected $_options = array(
‘cache_dir’ => ‘null’,
to

protected $_options = array(
‘cache_dir’ => ‘tmp/’,

And have created a ‘tmp’ directory (/httpdocs/var/tmp)

This still does not resolves the error
“There has been an error processing your request
Exception printing is disabled by default for security reasons.
Error log record number: 201453105951”

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP. I HAVE BEEN DESPERATELY TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS FOR DAYS NOW.

Hey zpy1,
I had the same problem.
You have to open magento/lib/Zend/Cache/Backend/File.php
Change:

protected $_options = array(

'cache_dir' => 'null',

to

protected $_options = array(

'cache_dir' => 'tmp/',

Upload the changed File.php and create a folder, called “tmp”
The folder must be writable, so give it ‘777’

That worked fine for me, hope it helps you.

Best wishes,
Timo

This worked for us in our new Magento 1.6.2.0 shop…

Please check your php.ini safe_mode setting set to off

this can happen when it is on.

Xeont
