it would be amazing if you could get the cart to integrate with inventory control software or run its own inventory module using bar codes.  the type where every product on the shelf has a bar code , you scan it , type in how many there are and then upload this info to the cart.

even cooler would the functionality that allows you to download today’s orders into the gun and use it to pick orders. It will remove items from the order as you pick them. This should completely remove order picking errors and the costs/customer complaints associated with these errors.

This one seems a bit optimistic for the time being, but no doubt I would love to see something like this, as it would definately help inventory control, or even scan the tracking number which is linked to an order # and marks it as completed etc.  When receiving inventory scan 1 barcode that means 10X of a unit etc. 

I think the module we are looking for here is a way to have a Web Backend and StoreFront Point of Sale capabilities for people that have a Brick and Mortar as well as web, to keep them all under one system.

prolly is a bit optimistic but it is real life useable features that make everyday tasks easier that separate you so far from the pack that the competition will never catch up. Magento seems like the cart to do things like this , i would never even bother posting this on zens/cre/osc forums. People are not looking for the same old mods anymore , they want something new and exciting . Something that inspires them to think about how many new sales that mod will create or , man that mod will reduce an hour or two of work every single day for me and make our system more error proof, worker productivity just shot up 20% because in installed that mod ...

hopefully this is something the magento team would consider in the future.

All this and a lot more are available from a system which I was going to migrate to, but have temporarily suspended after finding Magento.

It is possible to specify the Manufacturer/Supplier of listed products, quote the minimum order amount and also the minimum carton amounts of stock and then to automatically generate supplier orders/emails, all of which can easily be amended/adjusted accordingly.  Just this feature alone would save me/my staff about 4-5 hours a week.

On receipt of the delivery from the suppliers you can automatically update the inventory with the original order quantites!

This is a commercial/contract package and costs around £100 per month, but the back-end/administration easily beats everything else Zen-Cart, X-Cart, Actinic, OS, ASPCart etc. etc.

Could the Magento Team please comment on this feature request?

I agree that it would be a nessescary feature for company’s who run a physical shop besides their webshop, where they use bar codes for sipping picklists and inventory management.

So will the feature request appear on the roadmap or not? Or is it more likely that it will appear as an extension?
