For a gift site, it’s imperative that a customer be able to choose when the gift arrives (birthday etc). And for multiple recipients, a customer needs to be able to choose a ship/arrival date for each gift. Is this a current feature?

jgold,
This feature is not currently part of the Magento 1.0 release, but I will bring it up with the team and see if we can add this to the roadmap.

Chris,
Thanks. The absence of this feature would rule out Magento for virtually every gift ecommerce site.

I’m sorry I won’t be of any assistance to you since I’m not using Magento for my shopping cart.

A different twist on this would be to set a “when product is released” date. This would be used for pre-ordering products that are due for release in the future. There needs to be a field that this date can be put in so it displays to the customer that the item is a preorder.
