I am developing an order export module. Give me a little bit more time, probably a week.
Hi all,
I am also very interested in an export module. In fact, I intend to launch a new website but still have my orders prepared by a sub-contractor. He is using 2 csv files, one for orders’ customers (one line for each orders and each needed information in the corresponding column) and a second one with one line per product ordered. I have read all your conversation and I belong to the (fast) growing community of those hoping for Sebastian’s job. Please find here what I would need :
- a process triggered by a daily task which would export the files as a csv format through ftp to a configurable server.
- a section in the admin menu where we can configure what kind of reports are needed : type (csv, xml), name formatting and, of course the data which have to be exported and how they get ordered.
It is a lot of work, but it could help many people using (and wanting to use) Magento…
Thanks in advance for your work Sebastian, If you have worked on another solution, please feel free to post the code…
David
I am glad to find this thread you guys are on the right track! Finding a solution for processing orders and maintining inventory control is crucial for us all....
I did locate the Microsoft Dynamics Nav page at this link http://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/default.mspx
It looks very good however I did not locate any info on printing shipping labels (USPS, UPS, etc) I only spent a few moments and maybe somone can elaborate that link… However the dropship functions and inventory control are excellent!
So I wanted a copy of the MS Dynamics and searched high and low and then behold the Microsoft Technet appeared.. (Be aware that this is for testing only however you get full licensed copies of all of the main programs...) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/default.aspx
You have to purchase a subscription to the downloads… It cost me $209 after using a discount code TLNW08 (It’s about $20,000 of MS products for $209) Just the fact you can test and get Office and OS is worth it!
(Our Current System) We currently use Shipworks and it maintains a database through MS mysql on a desktop or server… Currently our store is a Creloaded product and we are going to switch over to Magento… (Shipworks is not free about $35 a month) However it links with the store and has all of the shipping software and realtime data… One huge issue is the lack of inventory control…
I have posted requests through interapptive and the forum also had requests http://www.interapptive.com/support/viewtopic.php?t=5457&highlight;=magento
That’s the info I have to pass on so far… Thank you…
Please note that before contacting me, please check that your server supports “libxslt” which is needed to use the module. (see module page for more information)
I will, some time later, add it to Magento Connect too.
I’ll figure out how to do it manually and post instructions (for free). I’m thinking that you can see the format in the SQL database of an existing order, then duplicate that for any orders you want to import/export. It won’t be pretty but it’s a choice.
For anyone looking to do this (who’s not a programmer), it’s very convoluted if you do it manually. It’s an ugly database dump and then manipulating the data in something like Excel. In short, I wouldn’t recommend it.. it’s tedius with just 100 orders, let alone 1000. If you’ve got the cash, buy Sebastian’s module or wait for more people to come up with a solution

Sebastian,
I just wanted to say that I’m one HAPPY CAMPER!
As you know, I got a little misinformation when I started this Magento project, as I was told at a convention that Magento could export orders. What I didn’t realize was that I had to be a professional developer and code writer to accomplish that end. I was ready to quit Magento, after all that work with 400+ categories and 16,000 products. You saved me with your Order Export Module. I also really appreciate your patience in working with my POS people. It runs great and I’m back on schedule to take on our busy season, which is just around the corner. I would recommend your module to anyone. Great Work!
Thanks for putting 10 years back on my life.
Open Source is an amazing transition in code development and I can’t thank the contributors to Magento enough (obviously a big thank you goes out to Varien themselves) but I’d like to also put in a special mention for Sebastian.
Much like GreyWolf, he’s also saved my bacon. I run a fragrance store and was in desperate need of the ability to export orders in a way that my fulfillment partner required it. Up until i came across the ‘order export’ module, developed by Sebastian, I was doing it by hand and cursing all the way… mainly because I just don’t have time to build these files by hand, plus human error being what it is… I could see it getting ugly real quick.
Sebastian is the kind of person you can rely on to get a pro job done and provide follow-up afterwards. Nice work - thank you so much.
Sebastian’s export module works perfectly and a real time saver. He worked with us to make sure that the files were exported in a way that integrated with our client’s fulfillment system. He is one of the best Magento developers I have found so far.
