Before going live with Magento, I installed it into my domain.com/shop… now that I have everything ready I want it to be at domain.com

I am having trouble implementing this. Here’s what I have done so far.

I uploaded a clean installation of Magento to domain.com

I made a new database and username for that database and went through the Magento installer using those blank databases.

Now I have a clean Magento install but I can’t figure out how to get my data from my old database.

Both domain.com and domain.com/shop are Magento Version 1.0

Anyone have any ideas?

All you had to do is move all the folder/files from /shop into your root / ....

No need for a new database...but you will have to update your basedir path in the config…

Just something I wanted to add… I want all of my settings and products that I had from my previous store.

Well that sounds easy… I was looking for something like that but I couldn’t find it… where is the base directory path setting?

I took a look at my current base directory in domain.com/shop and it says:

Base directory: {{root_dir}}

I found this in System, Configuration, System

But this doesn’t sound right, b/c for domain.com/shop I would think my base directory should read {{root_dir}}/shop

Ok, while this solution works… I just found a minor problem with it. I tried to install the new modern skin with magento connect and it installed it into my old directory. So.. instead of mydomain.com it installed it into mydomain.com/shop.... is there any type of file or that has the magento installation folder hardcoded into it… if so, where is it so that I may change it?

Found out the solution to my second question… you need to make a new pear configuration.. and I found the answer here: http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/3379/
