I have a very important question that I am sure will come up many times down the road. How can we manage product options, lets say you sell XYZ Widget

You want to have on the product page a dropdown that says Blue, Red, Black, White, Chrome (+$2.00)

Or lets say you sell clothing and you want to have
Small, Medium, Large, X-Large (+$3.00)

1. How do you set product options so the customers can select the one they want
2. How can you add increased value to a certain option, perhaps because of limited edition etc.
3. How can you manage inventory control for said product options/variants

One way is to use the “attributes” and “attributes sets”.

So, you would create an “"attribute for size options.

xxs, xs, s, m, l, xl, xxl, xxxl

Then you create an “attribute set” for t-shirts and include the size and other related attributes.

Then create a “configurable product” using the t-shirt “attribute set” and select the attributes you would like to use for this product.

Then add the product information as normal and the very last tab on the list is called “Associated Products”. This is where you can modify price and stock per item.

I have yet to figure out all the ways that products can be associated and made configurable, as I’m just learning the system.

I recommend that you download the software and sample data and get bit snoopy with it.
