Upgraded to Magento ver. 1.5.1.0-beta1 - the issue still persists. However, there is a workaround now… You can create a new import profile just for images and bring them in separately.  To do so follow the steps below:

go to System > Import/Export > Dataflow - Profiles.
Click Add New Profile.
Setup a profile and select NO for “Original Magento attribute names in first row” (see attached screenshot)
Map the fields to the ones in your CSV
Save and Run the profile with your CSV

As long as the product is already imported the image CSV can just have a sku, image, thumbnail, small_image fields.

If the product does not exist, you’ll get an error on that line.

Hope this helps someone.

Hi, I met one problem for import products. I imported the .csv is ok but all images (thumbnail, small, image) are un-excluded on main page. I want to exclude the thumbnail and small picture in excluded in main page (not in gallery). How can I set in .csv files? Anyone have idea on it? Thanks.

We have a magento 1.5.1.0 mutistore.

I uploaded the image in media/import
Then put the file name in the csv like this /image.jpg also tried /image.JPG and image.jpg no luck on this at all. The image just wont show up in the back end and in the front end.

I was able to add image by using a fixed path like /media/catalog/product/category/image.jpg but the problem with this is when I edited the product on the backend the image will disappear.

I also tried using external URL as with this link tutorial http://www.semtruth.com/importing-images-from-external-url-into-magento/ I was able to make it work but the image is still not showing up.

I also tried using dataflow profile with as per instruction of gammafx. Still did not work.

This maybe because I\’m using a mutistore. But We will be uploading 10k image this week and I do not want to upload all the image manually.

a Reply will be much appreciated.

Thanks

We have an application that offers a simple way to import images and addresses some of these issues.  You can get more info on it at www.ClaraStream.com and feel free to email me at info@clarastream.com if you have any questions.
