How do I set up these type of reports?

Hello,

I am brand new to Magento and still trying to figure many things out on my own. I have a website that sells piano and voice sheet music.

I am wondering if it is possible to keep track of what products (music, in this case) sell over a period of time (say, 6 months) and keep track of it based on the composer of the music. We are a consignment store of sorts where people submit their music to us and we sell it, keeping some of the profit and giving a percentage to the composer. Is there any way to set up a report that would do this for me or do we just need to keep track of it manually?

Thanks,

Tom Picklesimer

I would suggest that you write your own script to pull in all the orders and create your own reports.
This can be achieved with the SOAP API but you will need to write some PHP to get SOAP working, to process your data and save out ‘excel friendly’ CSV files.
Depending on how you have your products setup you may be able to do everything from the orders, if you need to pull up individual products to get the composer attribute then that is just another SOAP call to do, test and get working.
Definitely doable, can also be automated so that the reports are there for you.
