I get “Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/texeyes/public_html/batterypulse.com/magento/downloader/pearlib/php/PEAR.php’ (include_path=’/home/texeyes/public_html/batterypulse.com/magento/downloader/pearlib/php:/home/texeyes/public_html/batterypulse.com/magento/app/code/local:/home/texeyes/public_html/batterypulse.com/magento/app/code/community:/home/texeyes/public_html/batterypulse.com/magento/app/code/core:/home/texeyes/public_html/batterypulse.com/magento/lib:.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/texeyes/public_html/batterypulse.com/magento/lib/Varien/Pear.php on line 265”...when i click on “Magento connection manager” or “package extensions” under “system”.

any ideas on why I might be getting this?

Me too, the exact same problem both with a 1.3 and a 1.4-beta installation

Solved it by copying the /dowloads/ directory from an older installation.
