Today i noticed that the search form on this site gives the google results. It even “clicks” away from this mainsite to google.
Sadly; i find this a step backwards.
I liked the filtering of results between forum and the connect place and i always found my answers right away.
Now, it’s pfffffff…

I hope i’m not the only one.

Greetz,
Dave

I agree, it’s much more difficult to find answers in one website searching through google.  The old search functionality was much better.

Same here too. Takes about twice as long as finding things now.

It’s quite unusual to search magentocommerce.com with Google
The old search was not perfect but it provided more relevant results

Yeah, I prefer it this way. The old search was slow, you couldn’t refine your query within 10 seconds etc.

With some clever Google searches (using for example FireFox keys) you can replicate the old search in terms of limiting results to forums, connect, wiki etc. inurl: or intitle: are key advanced search parameters.

It takes two to tango, so don’t blame Magento right away if things go tits-up!

New search is good, BUT, you cant copy links (you have to visit page to get clean url). For example I’m searching for an extension, find it, and want to copy URL in my clipboard ...

I am extremely surprised that the people that created Magento didn’t think to include a search option that displays results on the website. The google search really sucks. You can’t select/filter what you’re searching for, and overall is really poorly done. I have tried to search for extensions but there’s no search option. How in the world should I find the correct extension?
