SSL enabled but not working for login page

I have SSL enabled for both frontend and backend.

This used to work perfectly for all links that used that option especially the login page.

The login link now doesn’t use the HTTPS but normal HTTP. If you change the HTTP to HTTPS it and try to login a notice is shown saying:

Although this page is encrypted, the information you have entered is to be sent over an unencrypted connection and could easily be read by a third party.

Are you sure you want to continue sending this information?

How can I fix this?

I’m using magento 1.3.2.1.

same problem for me, I’ve just enabled SSL for both the admin and frontend but it only works on the admin. I get the same msg when I type in https for the login page, but I presume thats because all the links and images on the page are still http.

Anyone know a solution for this?

Same problem.

Same version.

Maybe a bug? I was wondering if it could be an extension overwriting something. I have the offline site extension for example.

How could we check whether an extension has messed up the coding?

Well, I only said that extension since I assume it messes with the URL rewriting. I have no idea how extensions work. It would be nice to be able to disable them to test these kind of things.

Is it possible for us to check the rewrites for the login, account and registration pages?

I think that we are also having this problem. This only shows up in Firefox however. And it is intermittent. It only happens every two or three times. When it does happen we do not receive the Blue background behind the Favicon and the lock in the lower right shows an Error sign.

We have noticed that it mostly happens during a redirect. Example:

You are on the home page (http) and you click on the Account Info Link (https). This will redirect you to the Login page (also https). But while the web address says https, you can see that the background behind the favicon is unchanged and your lock in the lower right of the browser has an error and it reads (warning: contains unauthenticated content).

Of coarse the page does not appear to have any images or files that are coming up as http, however there are links to other pages on the website that are http. Should these be showing up as https?

You get those errors only when you have a file (image, css, js etc) that is not using https. I will also come up if you have a flash movie that uses an xml file and its not being included using https. For the flash one though I still cannot find a fix.

Debugging is the way to check whether the extension have any mistake in coding or not.
