Dear reader,

Unfortunately I am limited to Media Temple GS (Grid-Service) and I am encountering some problems with Magento Extensions. Hence, I tried to install it through the use of SSH. None of the extensions however are installing… see the error below:

Attempting to discover channel "magento-core"...
unknown channel "magento-core" in "magento-core/Mage_Ideal"
invalid package name/package file "magento-core/Mage_Ideal"
Cannot initialize 'magento-core/Mage_Ideal'invalid or missing package file
Package
"magento-core/Mage_Ideal" is not valid
install failed

How do I overcome this problem?

Many thanks for you help.

Regards,

Kees

Try to run the command ./pear mage-setup firstly. Also, make sure that all the files in the site folder are owned by the user you are using to execute the pear commands (i’m assuming you’re using SSH). Then after this command, execute ./pear install magento-core/Mage_All_Latest. It shall work now.
