Hi

I have been trying to export all my products but it doesn’t work. All that happens is this message in chrome.....

This web page is not available.

The web page at null might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

More information on this error
Below is the original error message

Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): Unknown error.

with this http://www.ukpleasuredome.co.uk/index.php/admin/system_convert_gui/run/id/1/ in the address bar

I also have an issue when uploading .... i can only manage to get about 17 products to import at once then the uploader freezes and nothing else happens.

I have tried this with ie8, chrome & firefox with the same result. I have also add this file http://www.ukpleasuredome.co.uk/phpinfo.php so that you can check my php setup, though again i haven’t spotted anything wrong.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Steve

Please note : My site is of an adult nature…

Hi

It’s been a week now and i’m still unable to export/import. I have tried csv & xml and the result is always a same… the program hangs.

Interestingly i ran google sitemap and that, even though it’s and xml file ran, and completed quickly.

So why won’t the export all option work?

Steve

This sounds like your server crashes or at least kills the php process while doing export/import.
Have you any error messages in /var/report ?

For the import also check the ajax responses - Magento imports a batch of products (I believe the default is one per call) and then makes repeat calls via ajax to upload the next batch. so if you use something like firebug on Firefox you might be able to get some error messages.

Also try (preferably during a quiet time if you have that on your website...) to enable the error display and the developer mode (look in the index.php in the root directory of Magento) to see whether you can see any errors. But don’t forget to disable that again as a soon as possible as it might security relevant expose server details.

Good luck

Claudia

Hi

Firstly thanks for the reply and advice.

Ok, i took your advice and ran firebug… interesting…

In IE & Chrome nothing happens at all. Screen stay blank, loading then crashes.

However in Firefox the process starts then i get ‘Unable to create directory ‘/var/export/’. Access forbidden.’ so this is now what i’m looking into....

Any ideas would be great!

Thanks again

Steve

Definitely check that the access permissions for the /var folder are ok. Maybe you could also try to create the /var/export folder in advance and give it full permissions.

But apart from that - no idea, sorry…

Also this should not have any effect on the import - did you get any interesting error messages there?

Maybe you have to remove the first slash in your path: it should be “var/export”

export might fail for following reason:
1. Script time out.
2. Post Max size limitation.
3. Memore limit exceeded.

So check these parameters first.

if these are ok then you need to look into its
1. Adapter wether its read was successful or not.

if this is ok then
check parser whether it was able to parse and save.

If this is ok then check Adapter save.

Hi,

I know that this pvePlus extension can handle a huge amount of products during the export and takes care of memory allocation. Maybe this is a good solution?

cheers,
Thomas
