I’m using Magento public version 1.7.0.0. There is a lot written in the forum and elsewhere about the feature that allows a customer to ask to be notified when an out-of-stock product comes back into stock. In System>Config>Catalog>Product Alerts there is a field to select whether or not this notification can be turned on so that the customer can ask to be notified when the product is back in stock. The switch works (it turns the notification on and off) but it doesn’t do anything. It doesn’t email the customer when the product comes back in stock, and it doesn’t notify the store owner of the request. Is this fixable? or just another thing that doesn’t work as it should? Is there a way to make this work as it should? It could be a really useful feature.

John

I have the same issue in V1.7.0.2

A fix for this would be really handy.

Hi,

In Magento, Back in stock notification working fine but I think you have not configured magento’s cron by default to run at every 5 min.

You need to do by yourself or need to inform your server provider to configure cron which run the magento’s cron at every 5 minutes.

Cron Path: {Magento Base URL}/cron.php.

Once cron working correctly then it will send an email to customer regarding notification.

Let us know if you need any further assistance from our side.

Hello John, as an alternative solution you can try the Out of Stock Notifications module. In addition to native Magento functionality, this module offers a set of options which help you better interact with clients and keep tracking of your inventory:

- with this alert tool you’ll know exactly for which products stock or price need to be updated
- the module enables guest customers to subscribe to stock and price alerts
- it lets customers subscribe to Magento out of stock options of configurable products and manage their subscriptions
- it enables you hide the ‘subscribe to’ functionality from certain product pages

Hi,

In order to enable it, please go to System > Configuration and click on Catalog under Catalog. Click on Product Alerts tab header to expand its details and set ‘Allow Alert When Product Comes Back in Stock’ to Yes. Save your config.

Now, on your out of stock product page on the front-end you will see the following link: ‘Sign up to get notified when this product is back in stock’. Your site visitors will be able to subscribe to receive a notification when this particular product comes back in stock.

When you change this product’s qty and stock availability in the admin to make it in stock, the system will automatically send an e-mail to all subscribers interested in this particular product.

Hope that helps,

Thanks

Monty

It can be done exactly with Out Of Stock Notification extension. When a customer provides their mail address in the pop up box, the user will be notified with the email by notifying them the product is back to stock]. You can just install the install the extension and the user will receive the notification mail.

Use this Magento Out Of Stock Product Subscription extension to let your customer subscribe for the alert email once the product is back in stock.
