I just want to add a new precision, for the french market, we realy need some new functions about taxes.
A tax can be different for each product (or category of product). (like DEEE or the new taxe named SORECOP on mobile phones, for example 10€ for an Iphone 16G, 8€ for a Nokia N95). Some new tax (per cent) can be apply before or after (TVA 19.6% on product + on product taxes(DEEE, SORECOP) + on shipment price) . All taxes depends of the location of the customer (If i sell to UK, US, or DOM TOM, i haven’t got to apply them.
To conclude,
2 Kinds of taxes :
- one or more fixed value, that can be different on each product.
- one or more percentage, that can be different on each product.
Multiple order of application.
Each tax is linked to the customer’s location.
- a fixed value for UE, not for US.
- a percentage for all or just for France.
Thx for your great work and sorry for my bad english !
You really have a fixed value tax? wow Thats something new for me in the EU. *g* - And I thought always, that just we Germans are making everything horrible difficult . And still important, not the location of the customer is the one, where you can decide, if you add taxes or not. its the location, to where you ship. Addresses for shipping and bill could be different.
It’s a complex system we are in in EU. There are quite a lot of us waiting to launch websites in France and Italy for this problem to be solved in Magento…
There is NOTHING in Magento 1.1 Alpha about this.... There is still NO VAT FIELD or something similar.... So I don’t understand how Magento’s Team could claim to have solved this issue… Maybe I’m wrong?
so may you explain me how to set a VAT Field in Customer Registration Form, please?
Because I think that it is not present as it should… without a VAT Field for customers, Magento cannot understand if you are selling a tangible good to a private customer or to a company: so if you are selling to a company located in Europe, but outside your country, Magento should not add VAT and taxes, but if you are selling to a private customer it should anyway… This is what EU Laws says about e-commerce in Europe, but I think that Magento can’t do it. So it is still useless here in Europe.... I hope to had wrong, but I’m not so sure about....
Say I wanted to open a shop based in the EU. The shop would not let other companies buy goods, ie. only sale to private persons. Would this be legal wrt. EU tax law?
I just checked out the 1.1-trunk branch from the SVN repository. As far as I can see (me==magento_noob) there is no way to define a tax zone for EU countries, so that I can charge 25% Danish VAT from all EU customers, no tax from all other.
I’ve just tested the version 1.1 beta, and I’m afraid there is no advance for EU tax system.
Is there someone able to explain me how to make it working well, with a very simple example : a product with a 19.6% TVA.
And i want to display the price including the tax on the catalog.
Dear Yoav any news on the fix of that tax problem for EU ?
What we need urgently in France is the possibility to display the product in the catalogue with taxes !
