i’m interested in hosting my shopping cart at home, please advise me on limitations or problems i might face.

would be running a dedicated windows xp with wamp server and magento community edition

p4 3.2ghz 1gb ram

cable interenet, 15mb down, 1mb upstream, static ip

the site currently receives around 100 visits a day, and one or two days out of the month bursts to 600.

there is your problem 1MB up!

since your hosting most of your trafic is going to be outbound (sending page requests out). You have a bottleneck on how much data you can push back upto the cloud

I would suggest not going down this path.
Do you have a UPS?
Do you have a redundant Internet connection in case the primary goes offline
Do you have offite backups. In case your pc is compromised.
