Slow Load Times and Overall Performance

After performing a fresh install of the .9.17740 on our own dedicated server with caching both the frontend and backend are slow.  The backend is noticeably slower than the frontend.  In addition, the frontend almost comes to a stand still once you add a product to the cart.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

@Pablo - you know what your image ‘col_right_callout.jpg’ is the culprit. This image alone has taken 8sec to load. Throw this image out and re-check…

@Pablo - I agree, 148k image for customer telephone service is tooooooo big… just crush it down to 10k or less.. also keep an eye on all other images u use.

as a first time customer i would have assumed it was a broken link or dead site and not waited.....
