When I add a product I want to add a Manufacturer and also a Designer to the product… Anyone have any idea on how this is done? I can’t seem to find it…

Magento treats manufacturers as attributes and hence it is found under catalog->attributes. Manufacturer is by default setup as an attribute. Remember, though you still have to define the various options for the manufacturer attribute. If you want a “Designer"attribute, then you will need to create this and add it to your default attribute set (or whatever attribute set you may be using). Once you do it, the process really is straight-forward.

Sorry am not really understanding this too well… So I am looking at the Manufacturer tab in attributes… I can’t see where I actually add Manufacturers to this attribute? Is it done in the Attribute Information > Manage Label / Options

Take a look at: Catalog - Attributes - Manage Attributes - attribute manufacturer - on the left there is a menu and choose Manage Label / Option in it and than just add your own manufacturers by Add Option button.

Hmmmm I went in and tried it and got the following error:

SQLSTATE[21000]: Cardinality violation: 1241 Operand should contain 1 column(s)

Also in Attribute Information > Manage Label / Options there is now ‘Add Option’ button…

Goto Catalog -> Attributes -> Manage Attributes -> attribute manufacturer - on the left there is a choose Manage Label / Option click on it, then click on Add Option now you can easily add new manufacturer with admin(name) etc values.

Does anyone know how I can add 1000 manufacturers all at once?
