Dear community,

I’ve received an email from PayPal in relation to their new 2048bit key migration and was wondering if that will have any kind of influence on behalf of my current store. I’ve found a similar thread in stackoverflow where someone states:

“f you use a shopping cart like Magento, you wouldn’t need to do anything because they use API signatures instead of certificates. “

however I would like to hear if someone has a different opinion or if I’m generally safe.

Thank you very much and best regards,
Nicky

Hi,
It actually depends on how you set yours up. It seems magento can interface with their API using a signature or a certificate. To find out which you are using, simply log into your magento admin and go to system->configuration, then select the paypal tab. Expand the section titled “API/Integration Settings” and then look for a dropdown list titled “API Authentication Methods”. If that says API Signature then you shouldn’t need to worry, if it says API Certificate then you need to make sure you upgrade your certificate.
