Add layered navigation support for multiple select attributes

I’m sure that there is a good technical reason that the layered navigation is limited to ‘drop down’ attributes at the moment, but I think it would be good if it was also possible to allow ‘multiple select’ attributes for display in the layered navigation.

So far I have only seen one person mention the desire to use multi-select for layered navigation

...but I’m sure lot’s of people would take advantage of such a feature.

Hopefully this is a feature that will be consider in the future.

P.S. @Varien - I have been doing a lot of work with Magento lately and really enjoying the experience smile

Yea, me want too a dropdown layered navigation, for order the bar and reduce the hight.

As illustrated by the link above, the display of the layered navigation in the front-end can be controlled by the theme (to include drop-downs etc).

My original feature request was not about this, but about being able to use attributes which are of the type ‘multiple select’ (in the back end), and have those attributes included in the layered navigation.
