well, accepting credit cards is going to be a feature available for those who have $$ to spend on being PCI-DSS compliant. If you don’t have enough $$ to cover ongoing PCI-DSS expenses you won’t be able to process credit cards on your web-site - use Google Checkout or Paypal EC instead, i.e. send your customers offsite.

PA-DSS is a serious thing to have. Reason: credit card processing is a serious thing to do. VISA fed up with leaks and breaches. They don’t want to pay their $$ for that. Entire PCI-DSS stuff is to pass those costs and fees on online merchant shoulders.

Did you tried this solution http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/kuzzma/extension/4110/cdev_xpaymentsconnector?

Please stop spamming the board with your “solution”. Posting this once is more than enough.

Or are we stuck with operating PCI Certified shopping carts like Magento Enterprise Edition?

If you use web-based subscription processor (i.e. you does not store any credit card data), PA-DSS is not required.

Magento Enterprise is really good service, but you also can try CreSecure (trusted, hosted payment acceptance service for Magento), please have a look: http://www.cresecure.com/

Also, you can check our blog article for more details “PA-DSS compliance FAQ”:

So how does everyone feel now that the date has come and gone? I thought this was more of a scare tactic…
