Cron.php not sending newsletters

I am trying to enable the cron.php for sending newsletters.

Using magento Magento ver. 1.2.1.2

the site is setup and working. I can use the /sending url trick to send emails, but i was trying to get cron.php running.

On my hosting I setup crontab to run that file every 5 minutes. I know it is working because i put an email script in and was receiving them every 5 min.

But if I queue a newsletter, it doesn’t send out via cron…

I try and hit the file directly in the browser and I get the following error:

Fatal errorCall to undefined method Mage_Core_Model_App::setUseSessionInUrl() in /home/divinefi/public_html/cron.php on line 47

so cron.php is failing.... makes sense that the newsletter isnt sending. But how to fix??

any help much appreciated, thanks!

I have the same problem (on 1.3.2.1) - although I don’t get an error message.
I’ve set up cron fine and also have test emails in the cron.
Added an ‘echo “ok”;’ at the bottom of cron.php and accessed it directly - the echo executes but nothing processed from the newsletter queue.

any ideas much appreciated

I am also on 1.3.2.1 and am unable to send Newsletters.  I was able to manually send the letters before the upgrade by calling /admin/newsletter_queue/sending - but that isn’t working anymore.

ideas?

Try Calling the cron from the weburl
something like
http://collinsharper.com/magento/cron.php

try it a few times and see if it works that way.

cron don’t work for me either.
I do receive emails from my servers that says the cron runs ok, but sitemaps are not generated.
if I hit the file directly from the web browser, nothing happens, just a blank screen.
Anyone has an idea ?

Thanks for your answer, but I still don’t get anything.
I set my PHP memory to 128M
I receive email from my server like this :

Connecting to xxxxxxxxxxx.net|xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx|:80… connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response… 200 OK
Length: 0 [text/html]
Saving to: `cron.php.104’

0K 0.00 =0s

23:05:03 (0.00 B/s) - `cron.php.104’ saved [0/0]

is it normal to get the 0.00 ??

Thank you for your reply, cheekygeek
I’m on version 1.3.2.3.

I did manage to get it working thanks to this fantastic thread :
http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/51142/P15/#t168871 and the tool provided by Revilo.
The files I had correspond to scheduled crons.
This tool let you know which jobs are currentmy being processed.
