I have a number of old pages on my site (old product, etc) that I don’t want to hit my 404 page. I’d like to just redirect the URLs to my base url. Obviously I can use the .htaccess file, but I don’t want to load that with redirects. I’d much rather use the built in URL Rewrite Management feature.
I use URL Rewrite Management all the time to make custom redirects. And I realize that I can put “http://www.mysite.com/” in the target path. What do I put in the target path when I want to redirect a url to the base path generically?
I’m surprised that I couldn’t find an answer to this question anywhere, but maybe I’ve been looking for the wrong thing. Maybe (probably) there’s something really obvious that I’m missing. Or is there a reason not to do this?
