Hi,

Following on from this long post here:
http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/29770/P15/#

To start a fresh…

Who has managed to figure out why Stock Alerts are not being sent?

1 - The main cron is working, I can see it ticking along in the phpmyadmin: cron_alert table
2 - The product stocks alerts are sitting waiting to go in: product_alert_stock
3 - I have applied stock on, and a stock figure of say 5 units to the correct products
4 - I can see the stock alerts in situ in Catalog > Product Admin > Product Alerts
5 - The actual emails are setup in ‘Transactional Emails’ ready to go…

But still no Alert System working?

We are on version 1.3.1 waiting to open the store when this function is ready?!?

Thanks in advance to anyone who has fixed this!  rolleyes

First of all, sorry for bumping this old topic.

I signed up for the exact same issue as the OP is having. For some reason everything is set properly but the stock update notifications aren’t being sent to the customer.

-I have modified the main magento cron.php file to send an email whenever the cron is rank.
-I have modified the app/code/core/Mage/ProductAlert/etc/config.xml file contents, you now find this at the bottom:

<crontab>
        <
jobs>
            <
catalog_product_alert>
                <
schedule><cron_expr>*\10 * * * *</cron_expr></schedule
                <
run>
                    <
model>productalert/observer::process</model>
                </
run>
            </
catalog_product_alert>
        </
jobs>
    </
crontab>
This makes the alert run every 10 minutes.

-I have 1 entry in the product_alert_stock table (my own entry)
-The stock has been updated (quantity 10) and status is enabled

However the emails aren’t being send?

Could anyone assist me on what to do with this issue?

Regards,
Kenny

Any solution or fixes? We have a few customers who can’t use Product Alerts Reports
extension because sometimes the built-in email sending does not work.

Do you have the cron job up and running?  Please post screen of the cron configuration in the CPanel (not magento!) and try to truncate table `core_cron_schedule`.

Okay i’ve enabled the product alert schedule manually (modified product alert config.xml) as per another post to run every 10 mins. See if that works. All other jobs are running fine.

Anyone found a solution to this?  I’ve tried the /app/code/local/Mage/ProductAlert/etc/config.xml updates, but the email is still not being sent.

I also do not see anyway to remove a Product Alert subscription.  The documentation on this particular functionality is very lacking.

Thanks,
rh

When looking at the product in the admin, I can see the Notification count incrementing, but I’m not getting any emails.  Anyone had this issue and know how to fix?

Hi
I do not know how it works, but I\’ve discovered that ... in app\\code\\core\\Mage\\ProductAlert\\Block\\Stock.php
is
public function __construct()
{
parent::__construct();
$this->setTemplate(\’productalert/stock.phtml\’);

file temlate/productalert/stock.phtml in my temlate (modern) contains this message :
\"@deprecated after 1.4.1.0 in favor of productalert/product/view.phtml \” !!!!

so I\’ve chenged :

$this->setTemplate(\’productalert/stock.phtml\’); to $this->setTemplate(\’productalert/product/view.phtml\’);
and…
It work smile
