Ok, so we have multiple websites setup and multiple store views in each website. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but I thought I should make it known. The problem is, once categories are in place and products added, we cannot add or modify a category without it taking more than 10 minutes and killing both the frontend and admin if the process is halted midway through. We have 5000 products assigned to different categories. This copy of magento is running on a dedicated server with full resources available. Available memory and execution time has been maxed-out. This issued is resolved if I truncate all of the catalog_product_entity tables and then restore after the category additions/adjustments have been made. I’m not sure if the magento team is aware of this problem, if it is a bug and will be fixed, or if it is just a performance limitation given the current database structure. I should note that we did not experience this with previous versions and think that it might have something to do with the restructuring of how store views are handled and the bug-fix for when a product was found in multiple websites and/or storeviews it threw an error when you attempted to edit it. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this problem.

Thanks,
Dan
