Custom Search Form [Static Block or CMS]

Good Evening (or Morning) All!
I have been messing around a little with a custom search form to use within a static block or CMS page.  I have so far been able to create a dependable drop down search (for year, make, model of vehicles) that displays the queried results using AJAX.  My goal is to take a returned value from that query and create a master/detail type behavior with the results.  i.e Let’s say that I had a value such as V6 (for engine) returned from my multi tiered drop down; I would want to make that a link so when clicked it will display all products that had an attribute assigned of V6.  If someone could point me into the correct direction, I would greatly appreciate it as I am spinning my wheels on this one.

My guess is that the creation of a new block

is the direction I need to be in, but I am a little confused about which files to look at to alter.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Best Regards,
Matt.  :)
