I need a little more info on PHP support as well:
Does Magento CE 1.7.0.2 also support PHP 5.5.2???

I don’t want to upgrade my php version to 5.5.2 if it will break my Magento site, but php 5.5.2 is now recommended as it fixes security issues.

Thanks for your help!

Don’t know about PHP 5.5 as there are a lot of breaking changes, but it works well with PHP 5.4. Although PHP 5.3 is the official requirement, it will work with PHP 5.4 except for some particular extensions we have come across.

PHP 5.3 and PHP 5.4 is still actively maintained so you don’t have to upgrade to 5.5 to get security patches. Latest PHP 5.4.20 stable is secure.

Lack of support for php 5.4 and 5.5 is worrisome since several of the last 5.3.x releases have contained warnings of approaching end of support, and that they are only receiving critical fixes now. This suggests that 5.3.x will be completely shut off from security support any day now, and we’re still stuck with it as a requirement for Magento.

What’s the timetable for 5.4.x and 5.5.x support?
